Percussive Arts Society Review: This 113-measure rudimental snare drum solo will certainly challenge the intermediate to advanced soloist with traditional rudiments such as flam accents, syncopated rhythms, cross-meter accents, and open rudimental rolls interspersed with buzz rolls. Conceived in a ternary structure, the solo breaks up some of the”squareness” of a traditional rudimental solo with changing meters such as 5/4, 7/8, and 5/8. The placement of difficult dynamics also enhances this unaccompanied snare drum solo. This piece would be an impressive selection for a college/university scholarship audition. Jim Lambert
